After creating the comics off of others’ poetry, I tried my hand with my own. I was nervous at first since I was exposing a more vulnerable side of myself, but that also worked with the themes that I usually have within my art anyways. At this stage I started to sketch out the words within the artwork, to create more of a story going forward. Making sure people could follow along. I followed that with the tracing paper and red pencil, and finally scanned that in. Once the piece became digital, it was much easier to get the details I was going for, but at this stage a lot of things were lacking. For instance, the frames, lettering, and overall placement of everything was very out of sorts. As I always say, practice makes progress, and I had to keep moving forward.
